Although every effort is made
to
provide full and accurate details here, no responsibility is accepted
for
any loss, damage or injury of any type caused to people acting upon the
information on this page. If intending to go to any workshop listed
here,
you must contact the people running the course or check their websites
to ensure you have the latest and most accurate details before spending
any money or making any travel/accommodation arrangements. I do not
endorse
any of the instructors, organisations or workshops listed here. Use
your own judgement
before deciding to risk your life and limbs to the people offering
training!
If you live in Wellington or Auckland I sometimes
teach individual and group stage combat classes. I can also sometimes
be available to travel elsewhere in New Zealand for a guaranteed
minimum number of participants for a workshop. If interested, please
contact me at stunts@paradise.net.nz
or if you would like a workshop included here, please send me the full
details. NB: I am soon phasing out listing individual workshops and
will instead only point people to the following site links that often
have workshop/training information. Scroll down for listings while I
still find time to do them!
For stunt and stage combat schools around the world
go
to the Recommended Links section. In the UK, BADC,
BASSC,
and
YoungBlood run courses
throughout
the year. In the USA, regular classes are held by Swordplay
Fencing Studios, They
Fight!, and the SAFD. Also Asylum
Stunts (Chicago), Roberta
Brown
(LA), Swordplay
Stage Combat (NYC), The
Academy of Combative Arts and Phi-Long
Nguyen in Florida, The Maine Academy of Stage Combat, and The Ring of Steel
in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In
Australia, regular weekly classes are held by
the Sydney
Stage Combat School. NB: Read my
article on stunt schools before deciding whether or not to attend
one (as distinct from stage combat schools).
The following Yahoo! groups often have information about stage combat
training:

I also recommend checking the Stuntplayers forums for
occasional stunt driving or other specialist stunt training sessions in
the USA.
