- Introductory Stage Combat Workshop - Upper Hutt (near Wellington),
New Zealand 
Venue: Judo
Hall, Railway Avenue, Upper Hutt, New Zealand. NB: The Judo hall is
above the boxing club and next to the Orongomai marae (corner of Park
Street and Railway Avenue). There is ample parking outside. If
travelling by train from Wellington please email me at stunts@paradise.net.nz for
timetables and walking route from the railway station to the hall (5
minutes walk) if required.
Dates: Option A - 4th August
(Sat) and 5th August (Sun). Option B - 4th August (Sat) and 18th August
(Sat). Some people are unable to make Sundays so for them I have the
option of doing the weapons day two weeks later on a Saturday.
Time:
1:00 pm - 6:00 pm both days.
Cost:
Unwaged/student: $90. Waged: $120. Payment can be made by direct credit
into my bank account (please email
me for details) or by posting a cheque (made out to Peter Hassall)
to PO Box 27432, Marion Street, Wellington, 6141. When you pay please
let me know whether you are doing option A or option B. In cases
of
genuine financial hardship I am happy for people to pay off the
course cost. Please email me
first to arrange this.
Course outline: Saturday: unarmed
staged combat techniques - stage slaps, stage fainting, throwing
punches and kicks, basic breakfalls, shoulder roll, etc. These are the
techniques used by actors and stunt people for live show and film/TV
fight scenes. Sunday (or 2nd Saturday for option B):
medieval long sword/broadsword, staff, and modern weapon fights. We
will be using lightweight prop weapons. Techniques include body blows
and disarms. On both days we will be using the
WWW system techniques Peter has devised.

punches and kicks, breakfalls, body slam, Irish whip, chokes, chops to
the neck, groin kicks, more complicated choreography, etc. Sunday (or
2nd Saturday for option B):
medieval long sword/broadsword, staff, and modern weapon fights. We
will be using lightweight prop weapons. Plus as a special
treat a few breakaway bottles! Techniques include body blows, disarms,
and more complicated choreography. We will be using
the WWW system techniques Peter has
devised.

NB: I hope to have a regular
one night a week training session in Wellington city after these
workshops. Venue and night of the week yet to be determined. Cost is
